DIY spa night and a Giveaway

We did a spa night activity last week. It was so fun! My favorites we made were a sugar scrub & a hand cream. For the hand cream we used this recipe from Rachel Supply:

HAND CREAM

2 ounces beeswax
1 cup sweet almond oil (we used coconut oil)
1 cup water
10 drops essential oil (we used lemon essential oil)

Heat beeswax and sweet almond oil until the wax melts. In another container, heat water until warm. Both mixtures should be warm, but not so hot as to be uncomfortable to the touch.
Place warm water in a blender. Cover the blender, leaving open the small opening in the cover. With the blender running on high speed, slowly pour in the beeswax-oil mixture in a thin stream. When most of the oil has been added, the mixture should begin to thicken.
At this point, add the essential oil. Continue to add oil and blend until the mixture is sufficiently thickened. Turn off the blender. You should have a thick cream. Spoon into salve jars or metal tins.

For the sugar scrub we used this recipe from Condo Blues:

SUGAR SCRUB

An empty jar with a lid (a small jelly or condiment jar works great for this project)
1 cup granulated white sugar
1/2 cup olive oil (we used 1/4 coconut oil & 1/4 olive oil)
A few drops of essential oil (we used lemon essential oil)

Pour the granulated white sugar into a bowl. Pour the oil into sugar and mix thoroughly until the ingredients are well blended. Pour into a jar with a lid. Make this in small batches and use it quickly because it doesn't have preservatives.

So YUM! These both smelled like coconut and lemon.  I used the doTerra essential oils that I received last weekend.  So Yummy! You can even use a lot of their oils in food. So, our sugar scrub was edible. Not that you'd eat sugar scrub but it sure made the kitchen smell great.

Now for the giveaway... Nicole from doTerra has generously agreed to give a whole set of essential oils to a reader! The set is called Dr. Mom Kit because it contains a lot of oils that you'd use to treat the minor bumps, scrapes, and infections that as moms- we deal with all the time. My husband and I joke that every night we have to hear the nightly medical report from our kids. Who has what ailment, scratch, or bump. This kit would be helpful.

The description of the kit from their website:

The Dr. Mom kit is a collection of nine nurturing essential oils, including five single oils and four oil blends. The stunning box includes tips for using the oils, as well as an audio CD featuring dōTERRA's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. David K. Hill. In this audio presentation, Dr. Hill teaches listeners how to care for their family's everyday health needs with simple and safe methods using the nine nurturing essential oils. The kit includes a 5 ml bottle of Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Melaleuca, Oregano, Deep Blue®, Breathe, DigestZen™, and On Guard™ to help families address a multitude of health concerns.

So not only could you use these oils for medical purposes, but I know you could used them for a lot of other great things as well-- you own spa night, some of them in baking, make your own home cleaners and fragrance sprays... Do you want these oils? Leave a comment here on my blog and I'll pick a random winner.  The giveaway will go until Thursday, August 13 at midnight.  The winner will be announced on Friday.
