Creativity and Compassion

Wow! I loved this talk given by President Uchtdorf. I love the reminder that creativity and the need to beautify our surroundings is a divine gift from the Creator of the Universe. Our Father in Heaven wants us to be happy and this gift of creativity was given not only to make us happy, but also to lift others up and bring happiness to them.  There are so many creative people out there, sometimes it's easy to feel like our creations won't be as good so we don't even try.

He reminds us that creativity comes in many different forms, not just with a canvas and brush. Even if your creativity is with a canvas and brush, what you create is your own gift to God and shouldn't be compared with anyone else. There is enough creativity to go around and there is no limit to the possibilities and variations of beauty.

He says "What you create doesn't have to be perfect. So what if the eggs are greasey or the toast is burned? Don't let fear of failure discourage you. Don't let the voice of critics paralyze you-whether that voice comes from the outside or inside."

He continues "I believe that as you immerse yourselves in the work of our Father-as you create beauty and as you are compassionate to others- God will encircle you in the arms of His love. Discouragement, inadequacy, and weariness will give way to a life of meaning, grace, and fulfillment. As spirit daughters of our Heavenly Father, happiness is your heritage."

Thank you President Uchtdorf for the great inspiration!
